Revealed: Sicily’s 61-year-old winemaking pact ...

Put the UK on refreshment ALERT!

History-making locals’ cellar exports its mouthwatering summer white for the first time ever ...

BEFORE ... on 21 December 1958, in the town of Menfi, Sicily, 68 winemakers signed a document. It was an act of revolution that challenged the local order – planting vineyards instead of wheat, citrus and cotton.

AFTER ... over half a century on, Cantine Settesoli has won Winery of the Year status and been awarded top marks by Italy’s wine bible, Gambero Rosso.

NOW ... they are looking for their first UK friends and have chosen us – as a family wine merchant that goes direct – to launch Terra di Nonno here.

Made from the floral, fruity Vermentino grape, it’s deliciously zesty and fresh. This is a lovely easy-drinking summer white … perfect if you sometimes find Sauvignon Blanc a little sharp.

Lively aromas of pear, wild flowers and apple ... zesty citrus and orchard fruit flavours. All for just £8.99 £6.99 a bottle.

Terra di Nonno means ‘grandfather’s land’. Winemaker Andrea Palermo has dedicated this wine to his grandfather, one of the original 1958 revolutionaries whose wines saved his village and kept its traditions alive.
